*looks around* So this is what it feels like to be a year old. Hmm it feels nice! I can’t believe we made it this far. In a year we’ve covered everything from photo shoots,tours, videos, and most importantly an incredible mixtape which is peaking 2 million downloads! We’ve also spotlighted fans and brought a bit of fashion and fun into this thing. We’ve seen two new sister sites arrive and flourish and we’ve reached over 5 million hits and 2 million visitors. But none of that would be possible without all who have helped!

So first off I wanted to start this birthday celebration off by giving thanks! One day last year I decided that I’d try my luck and make a website for my favorite singer. Her name was Shanell and I was positive she’d take over the world and your radio. So with motivation and a playlist of Shanell and the girls club in the background I sat at my computer and made this site! I had no real experience and all I really knew was that Shanell was the dopest singer out and that I needed to make her a fabulous website. So I did and slowly this little site turned into something great. But that’s all thanks to the following people. First I want to thank my team: Brittany, for helping me with everything from birthday videos to lyrics and for being an amazing partner and friend. Patrick, for your incredible work and dedication. So lucky to have you! None of this would be possible with out these two. Next of course is our fly ass graphic designer, Crystal. Everyone follow this chick and check out her amazing work, she’s the dopiest and sweetest graphic designer out! Believe that. Thank to our readers and supporters, from Ashley to Linda to Mercedes to Team Shanell and everyone in between. You guys keep us on our toes and you’re appreciated greatly.

Lastly I want to thank Shanell and her team for all of their support and guidance. I never imagined that anyone would ever see this site let alone Shanell. So thank you thank you thank you Ms Shanell! I can’t wait to see you take over!!

My favorite Shanell performance ever is the one of her song Dance Floor. That was one of her first performance videos I watched when I first became a fan of hers and I was like OMG she rocked it! Back then it was during the tour so I saw a lot of videos where she was singing background stuff, so I was like ok, I wanna see who she is with her own music and I was like damn this girl kicks ass!

I think a lot of people sleep on her because she is not only able to do the “up front” things such as singing and rapping, but she also does “behind the scenes” things. Shanell is also a writer, choreographer and dancer. People think that her career started with Young Money and they don’t know what all she can do and has done in the past not only for Wayne but for other artists as well. And now people are looking back like wow, she wrote that, she danced for them? And they’re really seeing what she can do.”

SchmexyDork: “I think that to an extent, an artist attracts fans similar to themselves and while I know that Shanell will blow up and have the hype Nicki has, her fans will not REALLY take on the Gypsy thing. Shanell’s fans will fans will still support her without becoming carbon copies. They will be smart enough to take from Shanell in the sense that they will be unique, develop their own style and just live life without bounds.”
